HERE Technologies API Support in CDXZipStream

Versions 5 and later of CDXZipStream support two new functions CDXLocateHERE and CDXRouteHERE.  These geocoding and routing functions work with the HERE Technologies API. They are similar in capabilities and accuracy to the CDXZipStream Bing Maps functions.  Both the routing and geocoding functions allow you 30,000 requests per month for no charge.  If you need real time traffic analysis for driving times HERE allows you up to 5,000 requests per month in their latest pricing plan.

We’ve added a feature in CDXZipStream version 5.6 that allows you to specify which type of driving calculation to make.  The default is to not use time aware routing to take advantage of the higher calculation limits.  This setting is now available on the HERE API section of “Settings” on the main CDXZipStream menu in Excel.

This is a great value when compared to Bing and Azure Maps.  Prior Bing Maps development keys allowed you up to 120,000 requests per year (10,000 per month). Please note that new Bing development keys are no longer available from Microsoft. The new Azure Maps plan only allows 1,000 free requests per month. Incremental pricing above the free limit for HERE is $.83 per 1,000 requests while Azure Maps is $4.5 per 1,000 requests. The latest pricing for HERE can be found at the following link.

To get a free API key from HERE you please visit plaform.here.com.  You can set up a free API key using the following instructions. To receive the full amount of free requests you will need to provide a credit card. HERE offers extensive reporting capabilities in their portal to check request usage.

To get this new HERE settings feature you need to install CDXZipStream version 5.6 or better which is the current trial version on our site. There is no cost to get access to the update. The installation file for this can be downloaded at this link.
